  7. Who is your favourite woman throughout the history of Byzantium? Irene has to be my favourite women in Byzantine history. For her desire and lsut for the throne. She acted as regent but was later dethroned by her son. She was very cunning in gaining revenge on her son Constantine by having his eyes out. Gotta love that evil Irene. It is said that she had agents feed her son false intelligence about the enemy and so he returned to constantinople and soon found out that the saracens had not retreated and had broken into asia minor. Many despised him after this (Coward). She easily gained alot of support

  14. If would have to agree with you guys.. Heraclius's campiagns and victories were magnificent..... Also i think it was Heraclius' brother Theodore was superb as was the Patriarch Sergius in the defence of constantinople after it was beseiged by both the Avars and the Persians when Heraclius was off in persia. I liked the way that they messed with the minds of the persians and the Avars when they imprisoned some of the persian ambassadors and changed all the messages. Jus superb

  23. my interest in history began when my brother had to create a board game for a school project and he based it on a castle and a seige. i then got hooked onto medieval history after watching the battle of stirling in the movie braveheart-i mustve watched that scene over 1000 times because i wrecked the video after rewinding it so much and playing it. I was just amazed by the cavalry charge. this began when i was in grade 3. My school library had a very small section on history but i found a book on world history which i memorised in my remaining years in primary school. And at the moment i am reading a novel written by David Anthony Durham called Pride of Carthage. The board game and braveheart triggered my love for ancient warfare and history..
  24. my favourtie battle has to be Agincourt or seige of Acre
