  1. Guess we can only go south from there then. Is it a neighbouring country? France perhaps?
  2. Good guess! It's indeed Mirobriga. Here's another pic anyway...
  3. Close, but... not quite. I'll post another pic tomorrow.
  4. Not France, but getting warmer. Look south...
  5. It's not in Croatia either. You must go west...
  6. I visited the Gallo-Roman museum in Tongeren some years ago when I was still living in Belgium. It was interesting! Since then it's been renovated so it should be even better now. Also, there are quite a few burial mounds - dating back, I believe, to Celtic times - still visible in the flat surrounding countryside. Oh and make sure you don't miss the Ambiorix statue on the main square.
  7. Yay! Ok, I hope this is not too obscure but if nobody is able to guess it, I'll post another pic later. It's a nice spot, I visited it a few years ago...
  8. Maybe you can give us some hints as to where in the Mediterranean this is located. Is it in Italy? Hot or cold?
  9. I don't see the pictures either (I have Acrobat 9).
  10. It looks like it's situated by a river mouth. Is it in Spain?
  11. Is this somewhere on the Mediterranean?
  12. This is not too serious (at least not in my opinion) but I can't see if there are other users online at the bottom of the screen. Just thought I'd draw your attention to that in case you want to have it fixed.
  13. Happy belated birthday to you, Klingan! Glad to hear you had an enjoyable day!
  14. TV miniseries: Attila (2001)- with a heavily made-up Gerard Butler Spartacus(2004) Movies: History of the World: Part I (1981)- with Mel Brooks Druids (2001) - Christopher Lambert making a somewhat awkward transition from Highlander to Vercingetorix
  15. Poor Julius... he must be turning in his grave
  16. I guess I'll see it as soon as it's available online. Would rather see it on the big screen but honestly don't feel like watching it in a language other than English...
  17. First and foremost: travelling. I'm a bit of a globetrotter and my mission is seeing as much of the world as I can in this lifetime. Other less expensive hobbies include: reading (classics, historical (and other) novels, African literature ...), wine tasting (and drinking, of course!), photography, music (classical, folk, African, Brazilian, rock...), cycling, cinema. I used to love studying/learning but I just don't seem have the same energy and concentration capacity as I used to. Getting old perhaps?
  18. Hey, I thought this thread was about Roman-related things we have recently seen, read, etc. Btw, have also seen "The King's Speech" and fully agree.
  19. Thanks, guys! Currently on the road (Vienna) with very bad internet connection. But the wine yesterday was excellent: I had a nice glass of Chianti. :-) Wishing everyone a wonderful 2011.
  20. I miss X-Files. Life was simpler then *sigh*
