    Could another possible distinction be that Caesar's (and Sulla's) positions were not considered hereditary? I.E. - It seems that only after Augustus came along that it was assumed that there would be a line of succession.

    No to all the above. This is an actual documented human being, as opposed to a mythological figure. (Neph was on to something though ...)

    There is no hair visible in the original uncropped photo. That having been said, there are several clues to this person's identity in the photo I've posted.
