I enjoy this show. The only issue I don't like is that it's only 8 episodes. Season finale is two hours long and ends this weekend. I like that anytime I want to watch an episode all I have to do is check out WOW on demand anytime I please for free on my cable. Good show. I hope more historical/fiction like shows follow in the future.

I had this to say on an MMA site sherdog.net. Sorry, they put on extra weight because some extra fat would add a little more protection to themselves. The gladiators needed a layer of fat over the muscles as protection from blows and cuts. Looking "ripped" was not functional. They mostly ate barley, beans and dried fruit. Fedor: Thank you for your passion (and education) about MMA. Most MMA fighters I've seen have a traditional martial arts backgound and show the respect for ones's opponent associated with the martial arts. Unfortunately, many of the fighters with an American wrestling background are more suited for Studio Wrestling. Lesnar, obviously, is no exception. He looks like a steroid-enhanced jerk who deserves to go down hard. guy also known as gaius No problem. Good thread. That Lesnar guy did wrestle in the wwf for a few years. That's why he got a title shot in the UFC with a record of 2-1. He brings in fans from the wwf world. Hopefully Shane Carwin beats Lesnar when they fight. Lesnar sure does act like he has a serious case of roid rage. Man, that does make this sport look odd that a guy from wwf is now the HW champ for the ufc. He needs to go down hard. Carwin might be the answer.

I agree. Hopefully when Fedor is done with his 3 fight M1/Strikeforce contract he joins the ufc and fights Brock Lesnar. I really don't like this Lesnar guy. Did you see what he did after UFC 100? Terrible. After he beat Mir he ran around the ring and flicked off the fans. He also got in Mir's face after he won for no reason after the fight. This video's audio is not all that good. For Galerius it is much harder to find that he did capture Ctesiphon if he did at all. The only real info I found was that he seized Narseh's camp, his treasury, his harem, and his wife. Must of been rather scary for the wife. Since Galerius seized the treasury, harem and the wife, I assume he did capture the city. I can give you an additional (19th century scholarly) source regarding Severus' capture of Ctesiphon. I have in my personal library the 3-volume Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology (my edition is 1890). The following is taken from the article "Severus, L. Septimius": "...Severus, still thirsting for military renown, resolved to return to Asia, and again assail the Parthians, who, taking advantage of the civil strife in the West, had spread over Mesopotamia. Accordingly he set forth accompanied by his sons Caracalla and Geta, crossed the Euphrates early in the year A.D. 198, and commenced a series of operations which were attended with the most brilliant results. They had an Army which was very similar to ours (Legion and Brigade = about 5000 men, Century and Infantry Company about 100) with pensions, compensation for medical discharges etc. They had baths, concrete, underfloor heating, drains and piped water.

I don't think it's crazy. The "Later Roman Empire" is often bookended by the accession of Diocletian in 284 and the death of Theodosius in 395, when the empire was divided between Honorius and Arcadius. That said, at least there were still Roman emperors in the west after 395, and there were no more after 476. Though as the Empire lasted until 1453 it wouldn't be accurate to imply that the Empire ended in 395. I'm talking about the wiki end date of the Roman Empire. So I do believe that the 395 date is crazy and factually inaccurate when the eastern (and thus the entire Empire) fell in 1453. The 395 date is the date when the Empire was one whole empire when one Emperor was in charge. Since the Western side fell to the german barbarians that makes the surviving part of the empire a continuation. 1453 date is accurate for the fall of the whole Empire.
