My main interest in history has always been based on my religious curiosity and inquiries. Everything else tends to follow its lead - archeology, psychology, geography, language & etymology from just about everywhere. Everything I read is based on self-study, and not until recently did I decide to venture into college to expand my passions.
Music is another close second. Mostly Neofolk, dark ambient, metal, ebm/synthpop and the eventual jrock variety.
I am mostly a lurker, and I will hopefully become a more prominent poster once I'm more familiar within time.

1. I was just browsing through, getting to know members pretty well and you have a lot of the same interests as I. I just wanted to say salve and that I'd love to talk to you as the time goes on.

Have a wonderful day.

2. You are correct...Osiris as well. These two deities resemble Chirst sooo much that sometimes you got to wonder how much Polythestic mythology was stolen..or should I say culturally diffused into Christian Mythology. Zeke Also it's uncannily similar to the story of the death and resurrection Baldur in Norse myths.
3. Salve! I am new, I got inspired by Nephele giving me a roman name so I re-registered (duh!), though I had no previous posts before that. I am 26 years old, currently residing in Orange County CA, hopefully elsewhere soon, and my interest in Rome in general is quite recent even though I carry the genes and ancestry according to my maternal parents. A good friend of mine kind of stirred me towards this way in my personal studies and it's been amazing and fun during the whole process. I usually browse this board during my work hours, which is why I just now noticed the introduction thread. Other than that I tended to be quite biased, ahem, as my studies were grounded more on the Germanic/Celtic side of things, but once I started hitting the Celtic books it was inevitable that I would read up on the Roman texts. (and sorting through the fluffy/psuedo-history that is predominant in anything Celtic is migraine inducing!). So now my book wishlist is getting larger. Said friend also convinced to go back to school and get a degree in Ancient History, duh. Otherwise, this is my hobby and passion, so I'm a bit slow and behind compared to everyone else.
4. Interesting. In Asian countries and faiths they still practice wearing all white during funerals and while at mourning, whereas we're the opposite. I actually prefer all white as a sign of respect, but maybe because wearing all black means nothing to me. Now I'm curious, when did the practice of wearing all black as a funerary custom begin?
5. I've been deeply saddened by this, and around my area, I'm surprised how no one is really talking about it or taking it seriously at all. I'm thinking it's just a natural progression from being desensitized from the war or just plain apathy? Reading on how the kids jumped out of the window, and one student looking back at his professor holding back the door for them really broke my heart. Of course, he was shot down. My heart goes out to everyone.
6. Live in: Southern California, USA. Grew up: Western part of Puerto Rico Heart in: Elsewhere, preferably back up North.
