  1. Battle of Munda Something about Mommsen "Some historians have chosen this perspective, and the most eloquent of these historians was the German Theodor Mommsen (1817-1903), in his Roemische Geschichte. Mommsen was one of the founders of the liberal Deutsche Fortschrittspartei (German Progressive Party) and cultivated a bottomless hatred for the conservative Prussian nobility, and his view of the fall of the Roman Republic was coloured by his deep-rooted disillusionment with German liberal politics. The populares were, in Mommsen's view, a political party like his own people's party; as a corollary, the optimates represented the Roman conservatives, who showed a remarkable resemblance to the Prussian nobles. Caesar was, for Mommsen, the incarnation of the "heroic legislator" (an idea of the French political philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau): Caesar had swept away the pieces of a corrupt nobility and had created an empire that served the needs of its inhabitants. In its constitution monarchy and democracy were balanced - something Mommsen would have appreciated in his own country." I read Mommsen. He repeated all ancient historians but had his own horseback opinion.

  7. Interesting really though.... As far as is known there is a long chain how merchandises were delivered to Rome from other countries like India or East coast of Africa. But Romans didn't go on travels themself. Oh, yes Rome's market was flooded by exotic goods but they outbided from merchants from the Middle East or Egypt. They outtbrided the goods from other merchants in theirs turn.
  8. Roman women had other tradition and upbringing of course. lol They could be burden for men but not helpmate in the battle.

Interestingly that different ancient peoples secured right centering by drawing of pattern or carving. Good luck! Hope to see your bow.
  11. I dont understand why this lady was so frightened at the very thought about "free perfume". There was one good way to make clear this question. Take perfume and give to experts to check it. But she prefers to spread panic among other women. How it is stupid though.

lol. It is not me. "It" looks like a child. At the same time seems that the child hold a toy in the hands. This is strange for me. I didn't make a child's photo generally. I saved this photo on my camera and don't want delete it. I showed it to my known professional photografer and she said that it is not camera's error. I photographed the fact that took place in that moment.

  18. Hard to ask to any questions but... My scored as Trajan You are quite fortunate to rank as the emperor Trajan, possibly the greatest of Roman emperors. You have relentlessly expanded the empire and even humbled the mighty Parthian empire. Loved by all, vastly larger than life, you are the model for all future emperors. It is hard to find a bad thing to say about you. HAIL CAESAR! Trajan 86% Vespasian 75% Marcus Aurelius 75% Nerva 71% Antoninus Pius 71% Claudius 71% Hadrian 61% Domitian 57% Augustus 54% Tiberius 54% Commodus 54% Caligula 39% Nero 32%

    Latin Translations

    O'k. Sit venia verbo. Thanks.
  24. If say on Latin: ['diakleti'an]. Accented on first and last syllables. The word pronounces without sounds [ai] or [sh]. I think the different pronounces are possible on different languages.
