  1. We are definately trying to fit legionary locations into the new version. Unfortunately, with a single 'layer' we are limited in time frame and will likely show these locations based on where they were at the 'greatest extent' (circa AD 117 or so). It very much depends on how cluttered things get, but we are currently planning on it. One of the problems with including too much detail is that it gets so bogged down with information that we can't 'see the forest for the trees', so to speak. Obviously we can't print 5 layered versions of a poster, so we have to do a bit of balancing act between reference functionality and simple aesthetics.
  2. No, the game mechanics are quite limited. You are given various issues on which to make choices on. Your choices are reflected in the description of your nation, etc. I suppose you could role-play wars and such, but I just get a kick out of seeing my choices shape the country.
  3. Ahhh, thank you Frank. I find myself looking forward to your posts and curiousity was getting the better of me. Is your work intended to be fiction or non? I look forward to reading it and wish you luck at any rate. I agree that Plutarch's account is lacking in the specifics of your question, but felt it necessary to point out as one of the few sources available. Unfortunately, as we already know, Octavian's final victory sort of taints any historical perspective on Antonius and the ancient material reflects that 'taint'. I'm not sure if you'll ever be able to get the nitty gritty of what your looking for on that account. I'm trying to recall if Appian went into any detail on this campaign, but my memory is failing me. As for RTW, is a computer game (Rome Total War) which attempts to recreate ancient battles, campaigns and such. Its design allows for players to create their own modifications based on historic events and I thought that perhaps that might have been your goal. It's entertaining anyway.
  4. Just a reminder that the UNRV region maintains an open invite policy for new nations. Participation is minimal and you can set your nation to the amount of daily activity that you personally like. I just find it entertaining. Nationstates.net My own nation... The Red Scary Dragon is a brutal totalitarian regime. Ahh its good to be King, er well dictator
  5. Plutarch provides considerable detail into Antony's campaign. As I recall the bulk of it starts around chapter 30 and goes on for some time. And, of course its intermingled with other events.. Plutarch Life of Marcus Antonius Just out of curiousity Frank.. you sure are asking some very specific questions about various campaigns and such. Can you satisfy my curiousity by letting the cat out of the bag and telling us what you're up to? I have a feeling its RTW mod related, but I don't honestly know why I think that.
  6. Nope, no 'file', send me a pm when you have a moment Ursus.
  7. Hah, you murderous Martians can't fool me. I know damn well that you killed off our dinosaurs with some sort of evil 'death ray'. Damn Martians. P.S. Silly Skarr, Adam was from Eden and Eve was from Venus. Or was it... Adam was from Mars and its just too damned hot on Venus for much of anything and I can understand people just wanting to get the heck out of there? I suppose all this madness would explain the need for Noah to to re-populate the earth from that fecal filled love boat of his. This is so confusing
  8. Christians were unlikely annoyed by most pagan festivals because there was so much going on it allowed them to participate their own faith unmolested. Sometimes we look at Christianity, and its similarities to other faiths as a maliscious intent to undermine, when in many circumstances adopting other practices and customs allowed the religion to survive.
  9. Adam and Eve: mother and father to humanity. {edit} what I mean is... if people believe in that theory, whats so difficult to understand about a single genetic 'father' as in the story referred to in this thread.
  10. Well that's pretty much the concept behind creationism.
  11. Hello and welcome Anthonius... however, I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'the welcome thread is really hard'.
  12. Well, its been almost two years since Moonlapse first started working on our wallmap and we began without any idea about how well it would be received. As such, our first order was a rather limited run designed to ease our economic burden in case we couldn't sell the thing. As it turned out, the map was quite successful and we are nearly completely sold out of our original stock. Over the last couple of years we've been discussing several updates based on our own reviews and feedback from buyers. Aside from fixing a couple of minor textual errors, we are hard at work making an even more in depth wall map. Not only do we hope that people will find it visually pleasing, but that it will be an excellent point of reference for the geographic Roman world. With this version we hope to include time period adjustments to borders as an indication of imperial growth, major battles, improved topography even more points of reference.
  13. As an aside and directly related to your home Pertinax... as I recall Ribchester was the cavalry horse breeding grounds? Is there much visual evidence left to explore?
  14. I suppose Domitian would be the most famous to receive the Damnatio Memoriae.
  15. I think I can just change your old log in. Didn't I edit it once before a long time ago anyway?
  16. Yes, we all know where Carthage was... I believe Favonius was referring more to an ethnic or cultural identification than he was to a geographic one.
  17. My brother bought me a board game called Conquest of the Empire when we were just wee lads. Was quite good as I recall.
  18. While that does make sense in theory, we cannot argue the use of adrenaline inspiring speeches and motivating tactics to steel a soldier's resolve before a battle. Adrenaline boosting does not always equate to wild out of control aggression.
  19. There were two... I deleted the one with no posts since it was obviously just a registration error.
  20. Indeed, but notice that my choices for best and worst politicians in these threads are both pre-imperial. Agree or disagree, I maintained consistency (not that I'm implying that others aren't consistent)
  21. He took it as a personal slight... I suppose he thought that he deserved to be a mod simply because he posted alot. The ironic thing is that it was his rather odd behavior that prompted us to ask Ursus to help out in the first place. Seems to me we made the proper decision there, lol.
  22. I know this is semantical in nature, but I have a hard time accepting a hereditary emperor as the worst politician. I mean, they were thrust into that role in many cases with no regard for ability or inclination. I suppose that in my mind the definition of politician requires a less 'imperial' state of government... but that's just me.
