  1. The so-called mausoleum of Galla Placidia in Ravenna.
  2. Yes, it's Monte Sannace. Well done.
  3. No. It's on a hill, away from the coast.
  4. Don't stay on the island(s).
  5. Again no, but Melvadius has the right country.
  6. Again no to both. It's a much happier place that hasn't seen war since 1943.
  7. This is really difficult - mainly because we have had some (lots) wine here Down Under to celebrate a certain wedding in post Roman Britain Are we in the Black Sea region? Not the Black Sea, and it has never been British either Although it has attracted the attention of the British military recently.
  8. No to both. I should at this time point out that although Romans were here, the site is known primarily for its pre-Roman era.
  9. Again no. The ancient name of the site is not (yet) known.
  10. No giveaway really. I was a bit baffled by the church, as it has such diverse elements (French, Arab-Andalusian, neobyzantine), so I settled on French northern Africa. The setting is not unlike the basilica at Carthage, but I was quite sure Tunisia doesn't have a church quite like this one. That's when I looked at Algeria, the part of it closest to Tunisia and found it.
  11. If you're looking for authentic racing at Jerash: http://www.ikbis.com/shots/273835 (starting at 1.00)
  12. Thanks, but I'm really too busy at the moment. Open floor.
  13. I suppose we would be taking much better care of archaeological sites if they were radioactive. And the Egyptians would have found some inventive ways of using it to protect tombs.
  14. Yes, I've had the pleasure of visiting Lincoln as well.
  15. ... edit: missed the bit about waiting..
  16. Sorry, missed it. No to either, you're too far down the line now.
