  1. No we're not, how can someone get Caesar's cloven hoofed horse confused with the one and only Senator Incitatus?
  2. Late Republic tribune. My "Anti-Senate" wouldn't be 600, but 600,000. Muhahahahaha
  3. What about DC, its centrally located on the east coast and has a ton of neo-classical monuments.
  4. Whoops..sry didn't know this thread existed already..
  5. Caesar won, get over it...Nice review Fav.
  6. Wasn't sure where to put this but this section of the forum seems appropriate. Roman Concrete
  7. I was able to logon all weekend without issue...Or atleast the times I visited. ;-)
  8. Still reading...A consequence of shorter commute time.
  9. Excellent book, very detailed. If you're looking for an overview type book, well told, try THIS You may well be wondering why we're recommending books about Hannibal. Well the answer is simple really, all that we know is derived from roman sources, or clients of rome. Scipio's story is embedded within Hannibal's story. I would recommend Baker's book for an overview, then I would go with Hart's worthy effort, followed by GO's recommendation, which I consider to be the 'bible'.
  10. I own this and find it to be a good quick reference book, scanty on detail but it will provide a good overview. If you're interested in getting the young ones involved this would be a good choice because it is well illustrated. Nice review Cato.
  11. Wasn't he found dead in bed and the question as to whether he was killed wasn't clear and was perhaps some of the usual slander/intrigue? And it was Lucius Aemilius Paulus Macedonicus who was in command at Pydna. Scipio was a teenager, but present all the same.
  12. Just another reason to discount Seutonius' 'eyewitness' accounts. Great storyteller though.
  13. "All Gaul is divided into three parts, one of which the Belgae inhabit, the Aquitani another, those who in their own language are called Celts, in our Gauls, the third." De Bellum Gallicum, Caesar Caesar's word is law.
  14. For someone who hurls so much at Cato, you really ought to learn something about the fellow. Although I'm a severe critic of Caesar, at least I bother to learn about him. You've been told, now get going!
  15. FIREFOX Also, many many tweaks and tips can be found HERE I particularly recommend; :1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!"
  16. Yer a yank and have 0% say in the matter...This is deeper than you can understand, this is WWIII.
  17. Quickly, to quote Garret Fagan, "Few could find fault with the bill." Time to re-listen Cato?
  18. Man U are going to CREAM Arsenal on Sunday....The league is already ours!
  19. Caesar's land reform bill was the first piece of legislation introduced upon commencement of his consulship, not the last. Or perhaps I misread something?
  20. ...so Octavius and Pertinax can send obscure words encoded.......
  21. Wrong guy...Cicero didn't do much standing upto anyone, he made one speech against the triumvirate then found himself on the run within a couple of months..I think only 1 or 2 of his Philipics were delivered in person. He never 'stoodup' to Caesar, but counted Caesar as a personal friend. Are you getting mixedup with Anthony, or perhaps Cato?
