The red (Thasos) ones appear to have been a pan-barbarian currency used throughout the area (a kind of barbarian Euro), while the blue and green (Philip models)were minted and used mostly by the Celtic tribes of northern and central Bulgaria. The other local coinages were low denomination (bronze and lead)and circulated only within the area controlled by the particular tribes which produced them.
