  1. Welcome! Black and white cats rule. http://www.unrv.com/forum/index.php?act=mo...&cmd=si&img=417
  2. Ahh but what about Spambot's post-apocalyptic ancestors? Oooo snap!
  3. **UPDATE** The Gallery has been updated a few versions to fix the display name issues and rid us of unimaginative spammage. You know the drill - let me know about the glitches!
  4. Hmm, it could be that Vin will take the crown for "Worst Possible Lead Actor For Any Historical Film" from Collin Farrell? I'll probably see 'The New World' expecting satisfying performances from the other actors, especially Christian Bale, but theres something about Collin's Burt-from-Sesame-Street-eyebrows and puppy dog eyes and perhaps resemblance to Scott Stapp (who is a complete tool, btw) when he has long hair that prohibits me from taking him seriously in any historical setting. Anyways, the point was - while Vin might fit certain roles, I cannot imagine him with his cromagnon speak and bald plastic troll toy head to do justice for this role.
  5. I shall apologize, for PP. I am laden with his guilt.
  6. I hereby apologize for stereotyping the Martians, needlessly labeling them as 'bad' in order to justify their future obliteration from the galaxy by my cyborg descendants, with their laser vision, cannon arms and ray-bans.
  7. That's because they would be blasting the Martians, who are bad, relatively speaking.
  8. Ahh now you are getting into technicalities. Since you are part Irish AND Native American, you should start slapping yourself while simultaneously wailing "I'm sorry!!!"
  9. No, noooo, noooo. You just don't understand. It's somehow correct to assume the pride of accomplishents and the guilt of crimes of others that can somehow be associated with you... You see, if the cyborgs were good then you can totally make a claim on that, but if someone you don't like had bad cyborg descendants you have every right to hold it against them. In fact, they should apologize to you. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that apologizing is good PR. That way you can twist associated guilt in your favor.
  10. But what if one these post-apocalyptic descendants is Mad Max? Wouldn't you actually be proud of that? I mean, he drove, I mean will drive, a totally tough Javelin.
  11. Perhaps he meant to say that druidism within Celtic societies evolved from northern Gaul and particularly in England... however this most likely based on the writing of Julius Caesar from the Fourth book of the Gallic Wars, XIII: Particularily the last part - "This institution is supposed to have been devised in Britain, and to have been brought over from it into Gaul; and now those who desire to gain a more accurate knowledge of that system generally proceed thither for the purpose of studying it." This doesn't prove that druidism originated there, all that it really says is that Britain was a primary focal point in that time. Then theres the extremely foggy matter of the Tuatha de Danann in early Irish myth, but it should only be understood in the context of myth. If you want a far more solid starting point, look into the similarities to the Brahman in India. If you exclude the subjective stuff, most things you will find point to an indo-european origin for 'celtic' society and druidism. But anyways, saying "Celtic culture evolved from northern Gaul and particularly in England. So don't say I don't know much about Celtic culture" is highly ironic and it makes me laugh. Go to the library, and read the texts that make use of real evidence. Then come back and and have a discussion that excludes generalities and subjectivity as much as possible. Thanks. Oh yeah, use references.
  12. Couldn't you have used a private message for this?
  13. LOL! Excellent map, btw. It's the best I've seen in digital form. BTW, I'm curious as to why you have included Commagene in Cappadocia.
  14. Hehe, I'm not. I think for me it will be a matter of voting for someone who matches my political views but has no chance of winning since they are not 'republican' or 'democrat'. I'm not too hopeful that our next president will make things any better.
  15. I made the image from a photo of his bust and I left the hair as is. Any ideas for alternate captions?
  16. Blame that on your average American consumer. The only shopping around and research they do is subconsciously determining who's commercial held their attention longest. Anyways, good for him! Isn't it odd that seeing someone focused on improving themself without betraying their principles is portrayed as a novelty?
  17. The Caesar Head shirt, credit goes to Virgil for the caption. I don't know whether I'd be happy or ashamed to wear it hahaha.
  18. Yeah, server was indeed down for about 15 minutes or so earlier today. I assume some sort of routine thing with the host.
  19. Are all provinces in your list displayed on the map? The only critique I can offer is that some of the region shading is perhaps a little too close to the color of the water, and that your Gallia Cisalpina is kinda small and way up in the Alps. I would label the entire area between the Alps and Apennines as Cisalpina - literally 'this side of the Alps'. If you were to specifically map the province of Dalmatia, I would extend it inland a bit more since the province with the actual name of 'Dalmatia' (not jut the region) was essentially Lower Illyricum, extending all the way to Panonnia (Upper Illyricum) and Moesia - roughly to the Savus and Drinus rivers. Only the northwest portion of Mesopotamia was ever annexed (briefly) but it did not extend west of the Euphrates. The area west of the Euprates belongs to Commagene/Syria or Armenia Minor/Cappadocia. Thats the noticable stuff, without taking into account that quite a few of these places were not contemporary. Hope it helps.
  20. I wonder where he shops for those suits.
  21. I'll be terribly redundant and recommend Jack Whyte, because I don't see him listed here. In my opinion, great Roman fiction set in Roman Britain. Not exactly Roman, but Steven Pressfield's Greek pseudo-fiction is fantastic.
  22. Where did the soldiers come from? The simple answer is that they were levied. All the territory under Rome supplied these levies.
