Pyramid Found - In The Heart Of Bosnia!
Moonlapse replied to Ancestor's topic in Archaeological News: The World
Any explanation as to the significance of those pictures? They add nothing to this thread, without information. If you say "they are unearthing the pyramid," I'll laugh. -
I recently read an article by Nathaniel Branden that nicely articulated a mass of something that has been in my mind, of which I could only grab bits and pieces when I attempted to understand it as a whole. http://www.nathanielbranden.com/catalog/ar...untability.html

Well, the forum, gallery and blogs have been upgraded! There should be tons of really neat new options and functions available! Actually, it was mosty security updates and shouldn't have changed anything or messed anything up... I think. Anyways, you guys know the drill if you spot anything. I'm aware that there are some template quirks.

Edited: Ok, on my computer at least... IE will display the text in my previous post in Greek letters, but not Firefox. Why? http://www.alanwood.net/demos/symbol.html A browser like Firefox complies with standards better than IE and cannot display a unicode character like W as a non-unicode greek omega. You can use this work around: Although Mozilla-based browsers, such as Firefox or Netscape, attempt to use Adobe standards for rendering symbols, they don't work on most Windows-based computers. To get thse browsers to display letters in the standard Symbol font you need to alter a configuration file called fontEncoding.properties. 1. Change to the directory containing this file. On my system it is located at C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\res\fonts or \Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\res\fonts 2. Open fontEncoding.properties with a text editor such as Notepad. 3. Find the line containing the symbols definition. It should look like: # Symbol font encoding.symbol.ttf = Adobe-Symbol-Encoding 4. Comment out the existing line by placing a '#' character at the beginning of the line. 5. Now enter encoding.symbol.ttf = windows-1252 The result should look like : # Symbol font # encoding.symbol.ttf = Adobe-Symbol-Encoding encoding.symbol.ttf = windows-1252 6. Save the file and restart Firefox or Netscape. from http://www.jesus.org.uk/vault/_symbol.htm Or write the Greek characters with the Unicode numeric references listed in the first link. If you are going to use a specific font, I'd suggest including this info along with it for Firefox users.

Haha, you've inadvertantly stumbled on my theory of modern human evolution (the scumbags produce more, the decent members of society less = evolutionary meltdown). http://www.theonion.com/content/node/32456 Hahaha!

Pyramid Found - In The Heart Of Bosnia!
Moonlapse replied to Ancestor's topic in Archaeological News: The World
There is no such person as Royce Richards. Grace Fegan is a real archaeologist. There is a Richard Royce, but I don't know his credentials or experience. It would be nice to find out who really is working there. Yes there is, I studied with him at Flinders University. He recieved his undergraduate Bachelor of Archaeology in 2004, he is now completing a Masters in Journalism and works for the Department of Environment and Heritage in Adelaide. I wouldn't say he is an 'experienced' archaeologist, but he definetly exists... What I find hilarious is that most of these half-baked 'Bosnian Pyramid' websites report that he's Austrian! -
You know, I don't care if that lady wants to be a brainwashed idiot, but its truly tragic to see children developing in that type of environment.

My wife bought me a massive box set for Christmas. I still haven't watched them all.

You're probably thinking of the theory developed by Robert Schoch and John Anthony West. You can read a nice dispute here. -

Times two if Gurney gets to wear his shield belt. Most certainly! Now what if Kegan was wearing the shield belt? Wait just a minute! Would the belt have any relevance for simple hand-to-hand fighting, or does this just pertain to blades? -

I guess the question leaves too many open ended variables, pardon my carelessness. How about rogue warrior Kegan (Neeson in Krull) in hand to hand combat against the warrior poet Gurney Halleck (Stewart in Dune) with two SkekUng 'General' Garthim Master clones as backup Skeksis, each without the ceremonial swords and right after being replenished with the life force from a healthy Pod Person. Despite Kegan's youthful vigor, I think that Gurney would prevail due to his hardened veteran status and familiarity with knife-fighting, so long as Kegan's Skeksis companion did not put itching powder in his stillsuit or anything of that sort. -

So wait, if you took Patrick Stewart from the Dune era and pit him against Liam Neeson from the Krull era, who would win? -
Pyramid Found - In The Heart Of Bosnia!
Moonlapse replied to Ancestor's topic in Archaeological News: The World
Well, if it certainly is a pyramid then perhaps it may have been built in an era when most other pyramids were built. When was that and who was there at the time? You figure it out if you like, I don't have time for wild speculation. -
I plan on modifying the system further to list an 'ignored by XX users' stat. Sort of like an ignore system, combined with the old reputation mod we used to have. The admins, mods, patricians and guest professors cannot be 'ignored'.

Anyone who fits the criteria. The option was requested by forum members and I made it available.

You'll notice that for certain usergroups, a little red button labeled 'Ignore me' is availiable next to individual posts. If you choose to ignore someone (perhaps a nationalist weirdo or an ignoramus who posts too much, or a combination of both - which is common) you will still see their posts, but the content will be replaced by some options, such as one to view the ignored post. If you experience any problems with this, let me know.

My mother's parents came from Dresden, Germany and their families had been there since beyond any recollection. Father is mostly Scots-Welsh from a line that originated in France.

Pyramid Found - In The Heart Of Bosnia!
Moonlapse replied to Ancestor's topic in Archaeological News: The World
Guys, guys, guys these are step pyramids. To this day we now know how to make these forms of them. The pyramids of Egypt can not be duplicated to this day. They are built in a 45 degree slope. Many pyramids have been found even in West Virginia. If you go to these place you'll notice steps leading up to the main entrance. In Egypt, they are built on a 45 degree angle with no enterance. They say the pyramids then were made with precise precision. They aligned them with the stars. There was this story that they built the pyramid, but it was not aligned with the star so they did it all over again. Egypt used to make step pyramids in the beginning, and actually under ground ones! Then they made the well known pyramids of Giza. In Bosnia there may be pyramids but they are step, not the ones we are usually accustomed to. Where do you see any mentions of the pyramids of Giza? The one I made reference to was the step pyramid of Djoser near Memphis, about 62 meters tall. The point being discussed is the claimed age of 12,000 years ago. -

Its funny how quick people are to hype up a claim like this when it somehow relates to them. There may or may not be a pyramid there, we don't know yet. But we do know things about the time period he claims that it was built. Let me give you a basic timeline - 22,000 years ago - the Last Glacial Maximum. Hunter-gatherers around the Sea of Galilee are flourishing. 14,700 - 12,800 years ago - abrupt global warming called the late glacial interstadial. Sedentism rises among the hunter-gatherers in Mesopotamia. 12,800 - 11,600 years ago - global cooling to ice age climate called the Younger Dryas. Cooler temperatures and drought initially destroy the sedentary way of life but spark the beginnings of agriculture in Mesopotamia. 11,600 - 10,500 years ago - a return to warmer and wetter climate which lasts to this day. The neolithic agricultural towns like Jericho are founded. 9,000 - 8,200 years ago - sedentary hunter-gatherers appear in the central Balkan peninsula, farming settlements appear in northern Greece. 5,000 years ago - Sumerians begin to form city-states in Mespotamia. 4,700 years ago - the oldest known Greek pyramid is constructed. It's about 3.5 meters high. 4,600 years ago - the first known Egyptian pyramid is constructed. Now, tell me that this guy isn't fabricating a sensational claim to draw attention. I am highly suspicious of this whole thing considering current political turmoil of the area and the fact that everyone seems to have a political agenda. -

Perhaps, but his claim that it was built 12,000 years ago is ridiculous. It makes me wonder if he even knows the state of human civilization at that point, not to mention the fact he made this estimation before any real excavations. -

Thanks for all the compliments! I'm going to have to start carrying my head around in a wheelbarrow.
