  1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/5034100.stm This scares the hell out of me. How come this is the only solution concieved to address the issue of cases being filed by disgruntled workers posing as legitimate whistle-blowers? Now the truthful people whose personal honour and principles do not allow them to remain silent in the face of corruption will be stifled. I thought the Bill of Rights was designed to protect citizens from the government. How many more rulings will be made to protect corrupted government from its citizens? I can't even describe the indignation I'm feeling.
  2. Every manufacturer has 'good' and 'bad' products. Most vehicles will be fairly reliable with regular maintenance and most vehicles can be prematurely ruined without it. I mentioned the problems with the Escape because I see them as design flaws (which may be remedied in newer years) It is also a good point that you should be grateful for any gift, especially something as expensive as a vehicle. However, I always think its best if there are no regrets involved, again with something as expensive as a vehicle.
  3. I wouldn't say everyone, but that brings up a good point that so much focus is put on American culture (good or bad) instead of the principles of individual rights and freedom that the nation was based on and which continue to be diluted and obscured. Pertinax's comment on population is interesting too, and probably more relevant. What's better - to go back a few hundred years, without technology or free markets, when living successfully was a greater challenge; stay on the current course where we feel obligated to sustain an exploding population at the expense of the productive until the breaking point; or is there another solution? hmmmm.....
  4. Rise - Herb Alpert (US) One Day At A Time - Lena Martell (US) wtf?
  5. ROME - Archaeologists said Tuesday they have dug up a woman skeleton dating to the 10th century B.C. in an ancient necropolis in the heart of Rome. Full story at Yahoo News
  6. I'd think that I was either dreaming or that someone had slipped me some LSD. I actually had a dream one time where I woke up like I normally do in the morning, but certain things were so bizarre that I thought for sure I was hallucinating. I'd image it would be similar to that.
  7. How silly, robots don't exist...
  8. This is just my opinion, and I'm an opinionated bastard, but I think that the relationship between big business and big government in a mixed economy has driven much of this. Despite the inherently coercive nature of that combination, I also feel that not enough people are individualistic - meaning that they are too preoccupied with emulating or submitting to someone other than themselves or their true identity.
  9. Well, since it doesn't have legs I suppose a cape is do-able!
  10. They should make it look like Superman.
  11. All I have to say is that Ri-man would scare the living hell out of senile, forgetful folks. Imagine that you are confused about where you are, you can't remember anything recent, and a robot looking like that comes in and tries to pick you up...
  12. Nooooo, DO NOT get that vehicle. I've worked with cars for about 7 years, and I can assure you that it is a bonafide lemon - judging from the several that I've come in contact with. Brakes jobs are costly and frequent, engine and transmission problems even at low mileage. If you absolutely must get one get the latest model year, since it will have more bug worked out than a several year old one. http://www.google.com/search?q=ford+escape+problems Whatever you get, read plenty of reviews from actual owners (not a media publication), and do not get a newly released model. Just trying to save you some headaches and frustration.
  13. There is one thing that is stuck in my mind from that movie... the scene where Dennis Cooper finds that he's stepped - up to his knee - in a giant pile of jabberwocky crap. That is, if I remember correctly.
  14. That's how I dance when I'm home by myself.
  15. Gwar is awesome for a live show if you like vulgar theatrics and being doused with all manner of imitation bodily fluids. However, watching that video pretty much made me almost feel embarrased just for having seen it. heheh
  16. Edited previous post's misleading title and added a link to the actual article.

  18. He didn't Primus, this is why this it is absolute ludacris. Zahi Hawas ridicules it, yet since the Taliban and Al Jazeera agree with Bosnia, they are sending a no name there. I don't know what the heck they are doing but it is obvious they are pulling this out of their *** as they go along. Then again the Illyrians were said to be 27,000 years old when the Earth was still filled with magma. I fail to grasp the full meaning of that last sentence, but somehow I'm sure that it creates quite a bit of irony.
  19. I have a rule for this thread now: From now on, any posts with articles or links to articles need to originate from a reputable source, not a 'bosnian pyramid' website. (AP, Reuters, National Georaphic, etc) Example: Pyramid in Bosnia -- Huge Hoax or Colossal Find?
  20. That was my first thought. But theres so much thatch that I havent raked yet and the house is sort of on a hill where it can be seen for a few miles, so I'm pretty sure that someone would phone the fire department. Then again, I do have home insurance.
  21. Hmmm, sand sounds pretty good to me.
  22. I have some advise for anyone who will take it - do not buy a house on a 1/4 acre lot that is mostly covered in grass lawn, unless you are a lawn freak or have the finances to hire someone to maintain it. There is street bordering three sides of the property, since I am at an intersection and on the edge of a cul-de-sac, and the lawn runs front, side and rear of the house. Anyways, one section is overrun with root suckers from a quaking aspen, another part is continuously eaten bare by the legion of rabbits in the neighborhood, there are huge spots dying from some disease or insect infestation, the section at the rear of the house is directly across the street from undeveloped land and has picked up more dandelions than grass, and the best part is that there is an utterly massive ant colony in the back yard. I'm talking about a bared mound of dirt bulging out of the earth roughly 6 feet in diameter, and I've found entranceways as far as 25 feet way from this mound. I plan on absolutely ridding the back yard of grass and covering it with shredded bark with the addition of some trees and shrubbery *gasp*. I'm sure that no one likes to hear me complain, but at least maybe I can help someone avoid this type of thing.
  23. It does indeed seem pointless to try, but it really isn't. History was made by the people who persisted and refused to accept failure.
  24. Well, we have a system where representatives represent the special interest groups who fund their campaigns. When you give politicians control over economy, you give 'big money' control over politicians. Communications companies, power companies... these are coerced monopolies empowered by the goverment.
