ok i have a question,Did legionares have a good salary? If they had a family to support was the Army a good option?Did there family live in Barracks with them,or did they send money home? ok,3 questions really, thx L
That scene in "saving private ryhan" allthough not entirely accurate, opened our eyes to the horrors of modern(ish) warfare. Before that movie it was all grab your hart and fall to the ground crap, like in the John Wayne classics .The opening scene on Gladiator was good but not long enougth. This might be a bit controvercial but i like the last battle in "Alexander",Elephants crashing into the phalanxes was sooo cool (how could u stop them) and i liked the way Alexander rode into the mass of indians chopping and slicing them up L
I like b.cornwells version of Arthur,it seems the most likely to me.his books are really good i highly recommend them if you like historical fiction. http://www.bernardcornwell.net/ L
hi all, i was wondering about the state of mind of your average legion soldier. Our soldiers today suffer from variouse stress disorders because of what they whitness during battle, the legion battles were a lot closer and more gruesome than they are today.Did any legionares suffer from stress? i realise that the world was a different place back then and life was cheap but still it must be pretty damaging to the mind killing with those types of weapons(or any type of weapon). any ideas??? thx L
i liked the movie, the director (stone)used accents to tell the audience the difference between the greeks and the macedons,so the macedons have a irish accent and the greeks english.I did think the battle scenes could of been better (all that dust) but overall i enjoyed it,far better than troy or king arthur.L
