  1. There doesn't seem to be any primary written evidence on the matter, but the eagle's wings and lightning bolts are generally assumed to be symbols of Jupiter. hi btw
  2. What places would you like to visit? Heres my list,in no particular order Yosemite National Park Rome Petra Jerusalem New Zealand
  3. Thanks Ursus,that explains it. L
  4. The guy in the middle pic is a priest,Britons did not worship in temples or special religious buildings. Rather, the evidence shows they worshipped on the farm or out in the landscape. He doesnt look much like a druid, but hes wearing a Druids Horned Helm, with ceremonial shield.
  5. http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/compass/...-button=summary When the soldiers were members of a cult, would it be for life? Or would they change there religion, if they came across a better one? the link shows Roman crocodile armour from egypt, worn by romans who were members of a egyption cult. Longbow :pimp:
  6. The celestial saint of Germany is St. Maurice, a pure African. While in command of a Roman legion in Switzerland in 287 A.D., he refused to attack the Christians when ordered by Emperor Maximian Herculius. For his defiance he was killed. His picture is in many German cathedrals and museums with the German eagle on his head. Trajan ordered the commander of his Mauritanian auxiliaries, Lusius Quietus, to clean the suspects out of these regions(egypt). Quietus organized a force and killed many Cypriote, Mesopotamian and Syrian Jews - in effect wiping them out; as a reward, he was appointed governor of Judaea. (He is one of the few blacks known to have made a career in Roman service.) He was responsible for a forced policy of hellenization; in response, the rabbis ordered the Jewish fathers not to teach their sons Greek It seems there were individual black soldiers serving rome, but i dont think there was hole units of black soldiers. L
  7. Julius Caesar in De Bello Gallico ('The Gallic Wars') mentions the Britons using chariots against his forces. They were apparently skilfully driven and used in 'hit-and-run' attacks on Roman troops in the mid-first century BC. How effective were these carts? the ponys they used allthough very hardy and strong animals, cant of been very fast, would the chariots have to come in range of the legionares pilums? I imagine they would have to come within in range of the legionares to launch there own javelins, then the Romans could easily stop them, couldnt they?
  8. http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp...n&virus_k=98893 Checked the website and it appears to be a hoax. Why do people do this??
  9. I was wondering about Romes Engineers,Did they have a engineering school, with apprentices?or were the guys who made the catapults ,ballista etc just talented soldiers who thought of a better way to kill the enemy? any ideas??
  10. A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by >Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered >yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed. >This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital >information for its functioning are stored. > >This virus acts in the following manner: >It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title: >"A Card for You". > >As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so >that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset >button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently >destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus >caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN. > >This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself. >So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card for You. "As >soon as you get the mail, delete it!! Even if you know the sender !!! sounds nasty,i had to buy a new hard drive last month! hope this bugger doesnt get me.

Wood tablets were found at Hadrians wall, these were kinda like postcards.Made of two pieces of wood with a string hinge ,so you put the address on the outside right your message on the inside fold the wood over and tie it down with the string to keep your message private.I have no idea what type of ink was used though.L Theres a example of one in the British Museum.
