Its a shame about the scots regiments,The scottish battalions have some of the bravest men in the British army.the Black Watch has so much history how can the government just disband them when the regiment is serving in Iraq?the soldiers must feel gutted.   11. The pilum and the martiobarbuli are different weapons,allthough they are both a type of javelin.you say the they differ only in size, and function.Forgive me if im wrong but that seems quite a difference to me

Yeah soz,i meant over the muscle (bit tired,just finished nightshift) The fat what you gain from barley is different from normal flab,its a lot firmer,so its like having a layer of armour under your skin.Im sure olive oil and lemons and limes would of been available too,that will keep the scurvy away. L

I read somewere that Gladiators very rarelly ate meat,they would eat a Barley gruel most of the time,this was supposed to give them a certain type of fat growth under the muscle which was desirable for a man expecting sword wounds.If any one has any knowledge of Roman Diets please post,im very interested.   17. Molossian Hounds were used for war,but how effective can a couple of hundred dogs be in a battle with tens of thousands of troops? The dogs were used to attack the cavalry horses,but after the initial attack,the mutts would just bite left right and centre causing damage to there own troops. Using Animals for war is unpredictable,you dont know what they will do! Look at the damage Elephants do to there own lines once there spooked,the only Animals worth using in battles are Horses. L
