  1. Im not surprised Godfrey the Duke of Boullon and his brother Prince Baldwin turned up with 40,000 troops, and they had attacked the Christian city of Selymbria!Alexius made them wait outside the city walls for 9days before he would receive them. And when he did see them he made them sign a "oath of loyalty"before he would let them depart into the Holy lands. Two more armys turned up commanded by Bohemond of Taranto and Raymond of Toulouse, when one of the lords(i think it was Godfrey)refused to sign the oath Alexius stopped supplying them with food and the Crusaders actually attacked Alexius's citizens! L

  3. Yeah, i learnt a lot of new things from the show, unfortunatly i missed the last episode i did ask our lass to tape it but she messed it up . I learnt that the Romans pushed well into Wales,i allways thought they never bothered with Wales. And the excavations around the Antonine wall with the civilian town just outside the gates! i figured the Romans around that area were allways fighting it out with the Celts, but apparently they werent. What was it? personnaly i like the Vindolanda Tablets ,i like them because they give us a lot of Information about the normal Roman man. L

  17. Looks good!i shall be installing the 6.0 the minute its available. But im finding myself playing "imperial glory"more these days,RTW is looking a bit dated now compared with the DVD games, even with a good g-card. RTW is still the best game though,i just hope the expansions a bit better graphically. L
  18. I thought there was 100 men in each Century but only 80 were fighting troops, the others were Roman citizens(not slaves)who received the same pay but only a small proportion of the Loot, Some of them were horseback messengers, cooks or clerks and usually they did not fight.I think this is correct but i cant remember where i got it from L
  19. Happy birthday America,i hope your doing ok over there without us
  20. Signum standards were used by Legionary and Auxiliary Century units of the legions, the "Manus"(human hand) is beleived to represent the first Century of a maniple formation(republic). The Manus was still used during the Empire period and it is thought that the number of discs on the staff represent the number of the unit within the Cohort.
  21. just to clarify, there not my finds i seen them on the telly I suppose the value is determined by what the objects made of (gold/jems etc),the rarety of the find or the importance of the object, the Vindolanda tablets are made of wood but there incredibly valuable due to the information they give us. Well, the Big Roman Dig is trying to get people interested in Roman Archeology in there local area, so theres a lot of schools and such taking part,or just ordinary folk in there back gardens. The main sites which are featured on the tv are dug by Archeologists with student help. I think its very good!my personal favorite site is Llandeilo
