  1. Gius Julius Caesar defeats Gnaeus Pompeus Magnus at the battle of Pharsalus (northern Greece) Deployment On Caesars left is the river Enipeus,he has three battle lines with a fourth held in reserve,he places his cavalry on his right.Marcus antonius is the commander of the troops on the left,Domitius Calvinus has the centre and Publius Sulla takes command of the right. Pompey lines most of his cavalry (he has a lot more than Caesar) on his left, with light forces of Funditores and Archers. He matches Caesars battle lines in the centre, with Ahenobarbus commanding his right and Titus Labeinus took the left wing (Titus had been one of Caesars commanders in Gaul). The Battle When the generals had finished deploying their troops, the infantry began to close. Pompey's soldiers didnt charge in an effort to tire out Caesar's troops, this tactic backfired as Pompey's forces were unable to receive orders easily and Caesar's troops stopped halfway, leaving Pompey's troops confused. Caesar's veteran centurions, forseeing Pompey's trap, stopped halfway on their charge and allowed their lines to rest. Pompey's fresh legionaries and Caesar's veteran troops created a stalemate in the center. By the river, the light infantry skirmished before the heavy infantry closed. Titus Labienus led a cavalry charge and succeeded in pushing back Caesar's cavalry and light infantry. However, when confronted by Caesar's fourth line of heavy infantry, Labienus' charge was pushed back and the light infantry and cavalry of Pompey's right were pushed into the foothills of Mount Dogandzis. Caesar's fourth battle line wheeled into Pompey's rear at the same moment when Caesar pushed a fresh line of troops into battle. Now facing Caesar's fresh third line at the center of the battle and the attack from behind from Caesar's fourth line, Pompey saw that his defeat was at hand. He fled the battle, while his troops were defeated under pressure. Caesar ransacked Pompey's camp and took control of the remainder of Pompey's army. And we all know what happened next......
  2. You will if you install the 5.4 MOD,but the 6.o takes you straight to the Campaign game (realism MOD) I havent noticed any thing
  3. I dont think the Scots were living there at the time.
  4. lets see if we can ressurect it Publius Aelius Travanus Hadrianus Hadrian was born on 24/1/76AD in Italica, son of Publius Hadrianus Afer. He joined the Legions as a Tribune of Legio II Adiutrix and later served the Legio I Minervia in germania. He then served a Legion(dont know which) as a Legate, then became Governor of the Pannonia region He reached his Consulate at the age of 32,the earliest possible age. When emperor Trajen died,Hadrian used some dodgy adoption papers to get acclaimed Emperor from the senate, the legitamacy of the adoptions a bit of a moot point ,The real source of Hadrian's legitimacy arose from the support of the army. Four Roman senators were killed on his acclamation but he denied any knowledge of the event, but the senate didnt believe him and allways resented him. He spent a lot of time travelling the Empire. He fancied himself as a bit of a Architect and started a lot of building projects. He loved Greek culture and is often portrayed on coins sporting a greek style beard, unusual for a Roman of that time. He died on 7/10/138AD and is remembered as one of the five good Emperors. On his death the pesky senators tried to blacken his name but his succesor defended him. Any one got anything to add about Hadrian? Longbow
  5. In Britain Some are privately owned and some are government funded, some are even supported by public donations.
  6. Yeah, its the best realism MOD yet Its a lot harder than the 5.4 version, it took me ages just to get control of Italia! and the rebels in 5.4 were a pushover,in this one they kick your ass
  7. I think they could of taken caledonia if they wanted too, they at least could of pushed a lot further north than Hadrians wall. The terrain isnt much different until you reach the Highlands anyway,so they could of got as far north as Edinburgh without too much trouble terrain wise. Maybe the Caledoanians scared them too much?i imagine it to be a pretty wild place, and they only get wilder the further north you go.And the land has minnimum natural rescources to exploit, not particulary well suited to growing grains, its okay for sheep/cattle grazing but is it really worth it?
  8. Its just a anniversary post, 1888 years ago today Hadrian was made Emperor,i like stuff like that
  9. On August 8, 117 AD Publius Aelius Traianus Hadrianus, better known as Hadrian, succeeded Trajan as Roman Emperor, and began one of the more stable periods in Roman history.

  15. A and b squadrons went into the Gulf but D squadron had to stay in England on counterterrorism duties (remember when they stormed the Iranian Embassy). The squads rotate, 2 squadrons work abroad and one stays at home, so there is allways a full sabre squadron in Britain to act on terrorism. Also, are you sure the sas had a "part-timer" regiment? Doesn't sound too logical to me.
  16. Arsenic was used in the paint and wallpaper and when the wallpaper gets damp it gives off toxic fumes ,Arsenic was allso found in Napoleons Hair Follicles. L
  17. the British had a SAS terrotetorial unit (part timers, same as your national guard)i think they were disbanded after the first gulf war after its members were moaning about the amount of time spent away from there works.I dont think it went down too well with the regular SAS troops who werent allowed into the Gulf because of other duties. L
