  11. Well you can count me in again, I was looking forward to the last meet but alas it wasn't meant to be. So lets just make sure we make this one a success. As far as the dates go I'm OK so far, I'm planning to go away at some stage during the school holidays, but if we get a definite date sorted then I can always plan around it. I think the plans we had for the meet that never was were pretty good, i.e. I liked the look of Jesmond for a base, the hotel seemed spot on and reasonably priced, the meet with the re-enactment group would have been excellent and so on, so if we can go down the same route again then I'm sure it'll be a rip roaring success, and we might even get some sunshine as well!!

  20. Salve, Amici. Certainly not. I think the depicted equines are onagers. From Wiki..... Onagers are a little larger than donkeys at about 290 kg and 2.1 metres (head-body length), and are a little more horse-like. They are short-legged compared to horses, and their coloring varies depending on the season. They are generally reddish-brown in color during the summer, becoming yellowish-brown in the winter months. They have a black stripe bordered in white that extends down the middle of the back. They are notoriously untameable. Equids were used in ancient Sumer to pull wagons circa 2600 BC, and then chariots on the Standard of Ur, circa 2000 BC. These have been suggested to represent Onagers, but are now thought to have been domestic asses. Similar to the ones depicted by JP, apart from there's no mane on these guy's and their ears are slightly longer.
  21. WOW 1 million visitors!!!! That's pretty impressive, just goes to show what an amazing site we have going here, and it sounds like it's just going to go from strength to strength. I'm sure most of the regulars around here wouldn't mind chipping in to keep the site up and running to it's maximum potential.
