  1. Well there's a huge difference between having a good point about a religion and making a good argument for conversion. The lines I quoted are well written and have a very valid point but they don't say anything about religion as a belief and to me that, not logic or reason, is the core of a religion.
  2. I find myself very impressed by this article, as I thought it would be ridiculous after reading the title. It's a most intelligent text. Thanks for posting it MPC!
  3. I don't know to be honest, but I get the feeling that if you enrolled in the roman army you would probably be, ehm, very motivated to learn how to read very quickly...
  4. Haha. Roger that. I guess I'm, goign skull hunting when I've got my life back from uni
  5. Maybe an easily found site-map would help? I don't know how Moon is making the page but it would be potentially useful. (unless I misunderstander you)
  6. It's looking great, but I would change the font on the first page. It's not difficult too read but it's not easy either. Especially the italic parts are a bit annoying. That kind of fonts are made for headlines not text. To be honest I don't remember too much of the old homepage, I was mostly sneaking around here at the forum. However I like the focus on the forum with it's easy left hand corner link!
  7. Actually I must admit I have no clue what so ever what achievements I can get in the campaign but to finish each map. I heard something about skulls but I have no clue what it is?
  8. Well I have come to a conclusion about this. First of all it's not possible to make a crystal clear picture of what Vitruvius mean, the description isn't good enough. However this is how I think he meant: I made this drawing some feedback on if it's understandable would be great. I believe he mean that there are three in-pipes and three out-pipes. Those are divided as in the picture. and the middle walls are lower to enable the water from the smaller (my guess) side cisterns to overflow into the larger and more important middle one.
  9. The dying Gaul is indeed a masterpiece. We have a copy of it where I study. Here's another beautiful piece (from my university). I don't remember actually but I'd say it's a modern copy (That's for sure) of a Roman copy of a Greek original.
  10. Yet again I do not the any specific artist but here's a piece of a frieze that really caught my attention back when I was going through ancient arts. I really wish I had a better picture. I's from the temple of Athena Nike on the acropolis, built in the 420's B.C.
  11. Me too but it didn't take very long, actually beside the flood ship level the only thing I was slightly disappointed with was how easy the game was even at legendary. Been through it twice (if I count that I've missed the last two levels on one of them but I've played the first four about five times with different people.) The multi is great, I've only tried split screen and that's where I'll have to stop.
  12. I've played the game but I'm not having xbox live not the time to spare I'm afraid. Great game thought!
  13. Well the practise is very true and this incident is indeed recorded. I've heard about it many times before and I'm quite sure I've got it as an example in my social history book. Hungry chickens = Good omen Not hungry = Bad Must have been rather easy to manipulate.
  14. Well as a citizen of the worker paradise Sweden I've got Denmark 1 and Denmark 2. Yep that's the only channels I can receive. Well it's not too bad Danish television was always far better then the Swedish counterparts. I don't watch very much at all anyway. Working myself through Stargate very slowly at the moment.
  15. The problems are starting again here too.
  16. Yes I noticed a short downtime, thankful enough the site was back when I arrived at Uni Anyway on a serious note, downtime is bad but it's not a massive problem here so far. I'd say you guys make a very good job in general!

    Joy and relief

Well a few days have passed by, they still don't know who set fire to the school but things are looking brighter anyway for all the students there. I am most impressed by the local governments quick work. There's already new plans and founds for the new building. It's actually unbelievable fast. My lecture I was giving went well too, the first year tech students were even interested, which I'm most happy for since I was worried that I wouldn't be able to inspire them. Even thou I cannot go through Rome's history in 30 minutes I might just be able to inspire them to take further historical studies as I did. Over all are my own studies progressing too, I'm working on two courses right now a advanced C grade (candidature, the last thing before we have to present something of scientific value) and my basic archeology methods and history. Right now I'm focusing at my C essay, the only real exam we'll have. Today they handed out the assignment for the basic course too and I was most relived to find out that it's just a four pages paper (four subjects choose two, two pages on each) that I am required to hand in the 9th! Yes! That's two weeks. I thought I was in paradise. It's so unbelievable easy. Therefor I just might have time for something else for the next weeks. Oh yeah I mentioned something about a girl in my last blog. It's turning out real well and I'm very happy about that . Well I guess I'm young enough for that still Ps. Any pictures and/or information on water towers (where they are too) from Pompeii would be great! (Hint). I've pinpointed two out of fourteen so far. Gotta catch 'em all! Yeah that was a pocemon (what ever spelling) reference. I am much ashamed.
  18. That should make it really easy if I only ahd time to take a look at it. Back to work.
  19. I've always been taught that it was the maximum prices for everyone under deathpenatly. It didn't workout very well even so.
  20. The one you posted is beautiful Asclepiades. I've always prefered the third Pompeian style. Here's some pictures, I'll try to get some better when I get home. It's more of a style thou.
  21. Yes I know the background and have a decent understanding of the effects (and the not to be effects). This was more meant as that it would be useful for the members of the forum if we had it. It would be so much easier to discuss Rome's late economy.
  22. Grrrr, I hate being wrong -.-
