  1. The site mainly composes of a Roman bath (heavily restored in part) which hosts a museum, a theatre, the forum (not much left), a palestra and a temple (rather little left). The site is free to enter without any ticket. (The bath cost a few € though)
  2. It is! This is one of the best preserved ancient fountain houses in the world, found on the platform below the forum. Well done M!
  3. It's a nice piece no doubt. The Italians have been increasingly generous when it comes to foreign exhibitions lately.
  4. Neither is right but it's less than 50 km from Argos. You are getting closer and closer.
  5. Nope. Nien. Think less Ionian.
  6. Utica. You're unfortunately on the wrong continent.
  7. Woops sorry I've been without internet for a some days. No right answer yet though. The year 146 BC is important in it's history as it gained a some power that year.
  8. Going slightly off topic, but does anyone know how many (and where) Roman theatres there are in the UK?
  9. Nope, it's not in Italy. Look at the colour and texture of the stone, might help you.
  10. Intended as aclue Not quite that recently, would be too easy after Maladict found out about Ostia
  11. Unfortunately not. It was never a Roman colony (as far as I know).

    Nero.

Sounds like a question we could get over here! I remember when I found "discus this building (picture of the Parthenon)" in my exam once. Anyway, I would start of by discussing Nero and his love for the arts and then go on with how this was seen in ancient society(all classes). A piece about Suetonius, his style of writing should be appropriate after that and how his texts can be used. Could get very messy.
  13. Nope. I've been to the city.
  14. Both wrong. The city prospered from the mid 2nd century BC until the mid 1st century BC, but it's history is considerably older than that.
  15. It was once a bishops seat. Antioch. Not that easy I'm afraid
  16. It was once a bishops seat.
  17. I was once getting the Roman garden described as 'nature mastered by men, as the Romans mastered the world' if that will help you.
  18. Nope it's not Corinth either.
  19. Little bit vague? Nope, not this time
  20. I thought that I would wait one day with the clues but no, it's not from Asia minor.
  21. The Nazca Indians surely did predict such an event as the birth of Indy but they also realised that he was too epic to draw in the sand! Gosh ! I know it's the second largest gallo-roman theater of France but I did not think anyone would find it so quickly ! Have you visited it or how did you find it ? Anyway the hand is yours ! I've not seen it myself but the architecture, size, material, landscape and surrounding houses gave it away rather quickly. You will never find it! Lets see if this will be a little more challenging than my last picture:
  22. Epomanduodurum (Mandeure) in modern France?
  23. Remarkable as always Ludovicus. I'm sure that we have discussed this before, but what are the sources for this reconstruction? What are all those beautiful details based on?
