I can speak any dialect, at least I can understand the ones of my region but if someone from the south speaks in his I dont understand a word... And all the young people are like me. We only speak Standard Italian, as you call it. About French... I just study it at school ^ ^ ..it sounds very similar to those dialects I've just said I can't understand. Anyway, thanks to latin, I can understand the general meaning...but sorry, it's to hard to translate it in Italian and after in English...

Oh yes! The "Placito Capuano" is vey famous. But I can easly understand it with no specifical studies, just with some imagination and using the head. I've just bough my new schoolbooks for the next year. I've a new latin book, with many (original) texts from the Vulgata and i read something... I've been studying latin only one year, but i can easly understand the Genesis although i can't read more classical texts adapted for my level of knowledge. That's weird!

Thank you very much Gini -.- the only big difference between italian and latin is the presence of declansions i think. Verbs and nouns are pretty similar. Concerning our culture...we have more latin and roman elements than everyone else in the world
