Emperor's Words Cause Controversy
Rameses the Great replied to Horatius's topic in Hora Postilla Thermae
As reported by dhimmiwatch three Coptic girls were taken and made Muslims. A Muslim militant stormed a church and killed a man in Alexandria with a sword. New attacks on Catholic churches in Lebanon are beeing harassed by bomb threats and actual bombs. Men are killed everyday because they refuse to convert to Islam. Maybe not in large metropolitan areas but in desolate isolated areas this is done and covered up. Muslims storm churches and homes and the government does not bother to do anything. Not to long ago Muslims killed 23 men, women, and children in a church in the Suez canal. If these intense Muslims sought peace they should look toward peace intead of a Jihad. Attacking churches is not self-defense. That like saying, 'we preach peace but if you don't believe us you will be terminated.' Can someone please use your heads? -

The Seven Wonders Of The World
Rameses the Great replied to Rameses the Great's topic in Historia in Universum
I understand that you don't think making a pyramid is that great. I agree to some degree that if you have a bunch of workers you can easily make a pyramid. This is what sets the pyramid of Giza aside and in my opinion just puts the other one to shame: All of the other known pyramids including the one in Mexico and various places are all step pyramids. The Egyptian one was made in a 45 degree angle and aligned almost perfectly with the stars. Time. Look at the pyramids it had stood the test of time through desert storms earthquakes and 5,000 years. Sorry but simply the tropical calm rain all season area of Mexico has nothing on Egypt. Especially when it's barely a 1,000 years old maybe even younger. Can't be duplicated. To this day the amount the stones weighed, the way they were able to organize people to do it is amazing. With a step pyramid you can just compile a steady base going up. However the modern day pyramids were slanted and had no steps. Modern technology can't even do that. -
The Seven Wonders Of The World

The Colossus of Rhodes are getting a lot more attention then expected. Should not undoubtedly the greatest be Giza, or people are just looking for something different? Compared to the modern Seven Wonders of the world the pyramids put those to shame. At least the ancient ones can compare. Eiffel Tower- not that great. Great Wall of China- has been modified so many times. Taj Mah Hal- just because it is Islamic influenced does not mean it is a wonder. I can show you a million older and nicer palaces than that. Big Ben- sorry England, but are you kidding me? Leaning Tower of Pisa- congrats you defied science. -
Emperor's Words Cause Controversy

Some questions that need answered: Was Islam spread by the sword? Yes, even in Mecca Mohammed was rejected and as he left he gained worshippers and armies. As he spread his influence through most of the Arabian Peninsula he marched on Mecca. He captured the city and then told his men to capture more. Even though the Muslims gave reprieve in a 'nonbeliever's tax' most were not rich. So as a result what happens? People were either to convert or be put to the sword. Areas such as Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, etc were never Arabs but now they refer to themselves as Arabs because they made them lose their identity. Only places such as Iran and Turkey who resented foreign rule were able to keep their customs. Even Gauls, German, and others kept their customs and identity. Also a Jihad had loose ends. If needed defend your religion from any foreign rule. So when Hezbollah attacked Isreal how was that in defense? When they want to set up theocracies and declare a Jihad on defenseless suburban Hindus how is this defense? For even Budhism and Hinduism believe in peace something not relevant in Islam. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth is not a good premise to pass off an alleged 'religion of peace.' -
Well to my understanding they were originally Mongoloid. While going across various lands you can imagine they took some Caucasoids and put them in the army. The Huns were basically the new generation of Mongolians to my understanding. Wikipedia:

Colleges
Rameses the Great commented on FLavius Valerius Constantinus's blog entry in Cotidiana Res Meo Vitae
I hope you come to Pennsylvania so on the off chance we may graduate together. :smartass: Here are the schools I think that may interest you: University of Pittsburgh. This university is one of the bigger ones as you can see. If you are looking at the best medical school in the country than this is it. Its prerequisites are high, and you need a 4.0 GPA. Of course, that is not true, but you need to get your deadline in on November or you will find yourself on the waiting list for a long time. It is a great university I have a brother and sister there the campus is easy to go around. University of Pittsburgh Duquesne. This is also a nice university for the study in medicine, but it is extermely difficult. It is good in engineering and medicine. It is a Catholic school. University of Duquesne Robert Morris University. This is probably the school of engineering and technical institution. It is one of the more popular schools in the area for engineering. Robert Morris University Penn State. My oldest brother goes here. This is the school for architecture and engineering. It is one of the most prestigous schools in the nation. It's prerequisites are not as tough as Pittsburgh's but it is a difficult school. It's large and its campus is huge. Also, home of the famed Nittany Lion. Penn State University Clarion University. I think this is the universtiy you are most interested in. This is regarded as the best university in Pennsylvania and specializes in law and political sciences. It is not as hard to get into as the other schools and offers a great education. Clarion University Of course, consult you parents and guidance counselor. Here are the notable schools in Southwestern PA with the exception of Penn State. -
I think you may have taken Kosmo's post out of context. The Huns without a doubt were steppe living nomads in around Mongolia and Central Asia (maybe parts of Kazakstan.) As the Huns harassed the Eastern Empire, they gave Atilla the lands in which to settle that was Eastern Hungary. They settled in Europe but the race of the original Huns were Asian.

Alexander To Carthage And Italy
Rameses the Great replied to Greco-Roman's topic in Historia in Universum
If I'm not mistaken the Greeks did not consider themselves 'white.' They considered themselves as Mediterranian and referred to the 'Keltoi' as white. -
Even though Alexander's love for the Persian culture was more love than he gave to the Greek one is a bit unusual, it is not the reason why people would attempt to assassinate him. He could never mellow down and just relax he always had to conquer and travel which took a toll on his health. His men thought he was the son of Zeus so for them to kill a military genius who killed so many is not a smart thing. Also remember whoever killed Alexander would be torchered in unimaginable ways.

Emperor's Words Cause Controversy
Rameses the Great replied to Horatius's topic in Hora Postilla Thermae
The thing is Islam was spread by the sword and it is political correctness. The reason why the Muslims get angry when you say something correct about their religion is because their religion teaches war. So when you talk about them they are sensitive because they know that they are beeing incorrect. This leads to them the thinking of invincibility that they are never wrong in the name of their religion. And as pointed out that leads to ignorance, and this will let more people around the world to know what the true meaning of Islam is. -
Emperor's Words Cause Controversy
Rameses the Great replied to Horatius's topic in Hora Postilla Thermae
The Muslim Brotherhood now has 30% of the government positions in Egypt and gaining more seats. They encouraged a 'halal' or right to kill on the Pope of Alexandria. If they take office Christians like the Copts will be second class citizens paying taxes and losing rights. Don't think this is true, look to Iran. I have been telling you guys the truth and yet it is not beeing scolded anymore. I hate to tell you I told you so but...I told you so. :sadwalk: -
Emperor's Words Cause Controversy

Islam in Arabic does not mean, 'submission to God's will' in Arabic it you look at it closely it means, 'force to convert.' Many have tricked Westerners into believing that it is a peaceful religion while making the Christians look like barbarians. Saying that Islam is a religion of peace is like saying Hitler loved the Jews. The fact is a Jihad is a right of passage to heaven for the Muslims. So lets put this together if you kill others, behead others, and commit suicide how is this peace? If peace means killing as many people as possible so that you can get into an eternal life, consider it peace. More news. If the Westerner's want to open their eyes any time soon, perhaps we can get a welcomed intervention in the Middle East before the roots of Chrisitianity alludes all. -
I'm not sure Scipio wanted to help Hannibal by any means. After he had killed his father he was pretty angry. His army was specifically made to counterbalance the Roman one. Hannibal committed suicide as the Roman army was quicly approaching his direction. Sold out by the king of Bythinia he met his untimely death. A selection: Forged by Lightning: A Novel of Hannibal and Scipio It seems like it accurately depicts how Scipio had witnessed all the loved ones dead and the vicious attacks by Hannibal. It's a fairly new book, but I intend to find out more about it. Here's a prelude. "Rome mocked Carthage's every word and twisted every treaty. The time was ripe for Hannibal to fulfill his promise to the Goddess Tanit and free Carthage from her oppressive conquerors. Trained from birth to lead an army, Hannibal promised to be the greatest general since Alexander of Macedon. It was time to prove his brilliance to the world. But Scipio couldn't allow that to happen. The very fabric of Roman society was slowly ripping apart and Scipio swore to mighty Mars Himself that he would stop it-if only his countrymen would give him a chance. While grieving the loss of his best friend, his mentor and even his own father, Scipio studied the devastating defeats meted out by Hannibal and learned how to defeat him. Forged By Lightning tells the story of two brilliant generals as they battle each other during the Second Punic War-a war that shook Rome to its core."

Some interesting facts I think you guys know about: Of the ancient wonders only one is a current wonder and still exist today, the Pyramids of Giza. Man fears time, time fears the pyramids. --Arab Proverb Five of the ancient wonders are of Hellenic influence. The last five are from Greek ideas and architecture.

I don't want to get off topic so I'll just post this. If Egypt is part of Africa, then it should be considered part of the East. If it is considered part of the East, then don't refer to it as an African nation. It is one or the other, but to have an African nation and calling it part of the East is by no means logical. If people consider Carthage part of the West, what makes Egypt any different?
-
Ok, but if you define Egypt as Eastern than I have a problem with that. If I'm not mistaken Egypt was in Africa and that is in the West. If you look at the culture of the Syrians, Mesopatamian, and Bedhouins it is completely different from ours. If anyone wants to define Egypt as the East, don't call it part of Africa because that is just a misnomer.

Sieze The Day
Rameses the Great commented on Antiochus of Seleucia's blog entry in Court of Antiochus
I remember going to school and walking into the classroom. The moment I walked in I saw the first plane crash as the teacher put on the news. I did not know what the big deal was until I saw buses lining up at the school. (I live in Pittsburgh where one of the plane's crashed.) To think that terrorists could have the ability to take out a school was terrible. You could tell the expression of the teacher's was not normal. All I remember was that all over every single channel was that news report. That day, terrorists were defined but more imporantly hereoes were defined. -

If you pick Alexandria, it is more likely that you like the Hellenistic form of a city rather than a Roman one. I did not pick one, because they are all very interesting. Absolutely, imagine the powers of the Mediterranian cultures: Egypt, Rome, and Greece in one city. An awesome spectacle to behold to say the least.

'pyramids' Discovered In Ukraine
Rameses the Great replied to Ozymandias's topic in Archaeological News: The World
What is with this stuff? People try to knock of Egypt because of their pyramids and say, 'Ours is better and older. If the pyramids predates the Egyptians one like it says, then how come to my understanding Europe did not start to farm and domesticate animals at that time? Did they just randomly make a civilization and build a pyramid? -
Unfathomable Dreams
Rameses the Great commented on Moonlapse's blog entry in Moonlapse's Private Blog
I know exactly what you mean. I have the wierdest dreams and when I wake up I just don't know what the heck it was about. Somethimes I wonder the things I dream about are real, or they are just a bunch of blurs all put together. Some people like dreams, but when I sleep and all you see is black that is what I like. -
A Noble Roman's Birthday!

Happy Brithday Pantagathus! Any plans for the birthday boy!? Have a nice birthday. -
The Ottoman were laying waste all over Southeastern Europe until they reached the Gates of Vienna. Poised to overrun it with 200,000 men, the Christian army of 50,000 was determined to stop the Ottoman advance. Europe united as Poles, Franks, and Germans came to aid Vienna. The Ottomans were beaten back by the pikeman and the janissaries repelled. It was a great victory marking the end of the advance of the Ottomans in Europe. If they took Vienna they could have went north into Germany or south into Italy. It also resembled the last true threat the Ottomans had to conquer Europe. In 1600 Europe was more prepared and ready for another invasion situation. Islam was confined to the Middle East and Christianity remained dominant in Europe for the coming ages until now. All with one battle.
