  1. Upon eating my ice cream, I wondered, "How would the Romans treat food allergies?" Did they understand the concept of a food allergy and how would they have handled it?
  2. "but there was a misunderstanding about how the dig was to be carried out" There is a clear line between misunderstanding and idiocy.
  3. Haha my optimistic title is wrought and dripping with sarcasm. I wholeheartedly agree with you about those writing prompts. I struggle because the stupidity of the question makes me pretend I care and I just always make up crap to support the argument. Haha I'm not an East Coaster, I live smack in the middle of cheeseland, Wisconsin.
  4. Talk about the longest four hours of my life! The inglish part had us answer 75 questions in 45 minutes. The math part was rediculously easy. I even laughed to myself. Then I hit question 41, and the next 20 I had never seen before. Read four stories and answer questions in 35 minutes. Blah blah blah About 3/4 way through I got bored and couldn't stop thinking about a certain someone. Hopefully I'm smart enough to continue my education! --- I got my nametag for my new summer job. Now I work on a tree farm, a greenhouse, and a guitar store. What next?
  5. No? Wow! I was introduced to his works back in 9th grade. This news makes me sad... one of the few times I'm actually sad after a famous person dies...
  6. I left myself a comment. Haha.

  7. I don't want to turn a gladius thread into an armor thread, but watching a history channel production on lorica segmentata, not even a scorpion bolt went through. The flexible plates absorbed the impact.
  8. So what do you do with the thousands of registered users that don't make any posts or log on?
  9. According to the textbook, between the years 1945 and 1984, the United States alone handed out more than $280 billion dollars. I wonder what would happen to the world if we just stopped giving away all sorts of our money? Maybe the world would see that we aren't so bad after all.
  10. I celebrated good Friday by sleeping in.
  11. http://urbanlegends.about.com/cs/historica...fk_berliner.htm
  12. The victorious cause pleased the gods but the defeated cause pleased Cato.

    You rebel. :)

  13. Haha very interesting. What those people need is their own little person to follow them around and whisper, "remember you are mortal" in their ears as they walk triumphantly down the red carpet.
  14. We talked about all those guys today. Marshall came up with the brilliant concept of donating money to the poor teetering countries, on the grounds they buy our products. Stopped communism, boosted their economy, boosted our economy. Dulles was an idiot that wanted to get us all killed. He got the Korean conflict started for blabbing his mouth.
  15. AP US is the coolest class on earth. Today I learned that the US saved the world from communism! We spent billions of dollars in foreign aid to hapless countries to prevent communist uprisings and combat the spread of this form of government. We saved Greece, Turkey, South Korea, and pretty much all of western Europe from them damn commies. I'm not sure how Amero-centric this unit is, but many of the facts are quite reinforcing to the unit thesis, and we even discuss many of the stupid things America did during this time. The cold war is very interesting. I think you are a commie. Yes you! General Macarthur wanted to drop circa 50 atomic bombs on China, commies, and create "a wall of radiation between the communists and the free world!" Damn! JFK is a jelly donut.
  16. I saw this a while ago. It's horrible. If they came to a funeral of one of my family members like that, I don't think I'd be able to hold my anger back. Three of them would get hurt... They are horrible.
  17. I concur with Cato. My week of spring break harbored beautiful weather, but now it decided to snow...
  18. The supercritical plants must be very expensive, they'd need to use stainless steel or a very corrosive-resistant metal in order to contain steam that hot.
  19. We didn't discuss those yet, but we did also discuss gasoline and ethanol additions. So far it isn't economical since it takes as much energy to raise the grain as the grain gives off. Also, ethanol burns nowhere near as hot as gasoline. I may look into the supercritical coal plants, I want to see how they employ that technology.
