  1. All the praetorians, cavalry or infantry, were spread throughout the larger cities within the Italian province.
  2. Even though prostitutes costed as much as a loaf of bread. What I'd like to know is: Since all court cases were settled in Rome, if two reletively unknown plebs from Spain were to go to court, and the antagonist didn't show up, how do we find him?
  3. Why thank you! I also made the one Lost_Warrior is wearing. My knowledge is based on: Church Services I was forced to go to and the History Channel.
  4. No, I think rapture is where people disappear randomly to go to heaven and Revelations is about some apocolyptic horsemen and some big battle between Jesus and Devil. http://www.answers.com/rapture&r=67
  5. I question everything in the media and criticize it. Yet, what am I supposed to think of the Islamic Culture? For my whole life I have heard of them killing people. I want to be so biased and call everyone in the Middle East crazy because all they do is kill each other. Only until recently I discovered why they hate the U.S. so much. One, for supporting Isreal (which I already knew), and two, for meddling with democracy in the Middle East back in 1951- Deposing a democracy to appoint a dictator to get oil. Yet they [terrorists] are still killing innocents who want nothing to do with those Islamic fanatics who kill off a grudge and actions done 50 years ago. Yet we vote for our representatives therefore what they do supposedly represents our desired 'action.' *sigh*
  6. I assume you recieved an A+ for that? I bet the teacher was very confused about all the historical stuff
  7. Having CS2 I will try whatever I can to the animated ones.
  8. There was a time when them damn Commies were going to take over America. That's like the end of the world, right?
  9. I will be making a documentary on the Siege of Masada with a research partner for this year's national history day competition. I know the only 'primary' 'account' is by Flavius Josephus, so we are searching for archeology books on the subject. If anyone comes across any books relating to Masada just post here. I am compiling a list of professors/archeologists for a mailing list. If you know of anyone with expertise related to the Jewish War/Eastern Legions/Masada/Eastern Sociology of that period, please post contact info here. If that includes anyone on the board here, that would be awesome. After the event is over (around april-may- july the latest) I will be glad to share it with everyone here. For more info about the project just pm me.
  10. I got dibs on Romulus Augustulus. I'm starting from scratch- the research process, so be patient.
  11. I found the most minor of errors but... what the heck it's an error. Back in the weapons page.
  12. Not that I know of, for I am not an expert, but there were factions vying for power during the Jewish Wars against Rome. The Jews were killing each other more than they were killing Romans. The winners were the Sacarii, who commited mass suicide when they lost at Masada (very un-jewish). In Christianity most of the denominations were breakaway anyways, so I would thinks it's quite possible there are in the Jewish faith.
  13. There were various militias of what we would now consider 'cops,' probably better suited 'paid vigilantes.' If someone committed a crime they would catch and beat the guy. If they didn't catch him, they'd take someone else and beat him. After the praetorian gaurd was established, they sat around Rome and other large Italian cities and were the only men with weapons in the city.
  14. *Sob* whenever I start a thread, I barely get any replies or views, for that matter... *sob* :tomato: :sadwalk: Where's Pertinax and his expertise when you need it? Many thanks to Primus Pilas for his participation... :notworthy:
  15. Anyone have a couple bucks they wanna give me so I can buy them all?
  16. Now the khat chewers in Somolia are being run by Islamist Extremists. I don't know which one is worse, but buying oil from them is paying out for suicide. Perhaps if Clinton didn't have brains of jello Somalia would be a better place right now. A lot better. Even a lot of the soldiers hate him for pulling out.
  17. I watched the documentary on the Legions in Trajan's Dacian Wars again and noticed the Lorica Segmentata was put on like a jacket, by one man- the ties in the front. I wouldn't think the History Channel would get that wrong... I swear... he put it on like a jacket! For the sake of argument, even if the straps are in front, no screaming barbarian can take it off unless you lose your scutum, but if you lose that you're screwed anyways. So now what...I believe guys who do the re-enacting thing all the time... but wonder if the history channel is right...
  18. That's why we don't pay our Mexican War taxes Henry David Thoreau style.
  19. Perhaps it was to rid the world of the triumvirate. Is there a book on this? I never really heard of this incident so thank you for the enlightenment. Edit: Heh, Lee Harvey Oswald is not a good choice of comparison for we can have a whole debate about that...
  20. I pretend to know what they talk about. :wheelchair: They're old people. They still use proper Inglish... :sp_ike:
