  1. "World War III will be fought with sticks and stones" - Albert Einstein
  2. I hope I'm never dug up and ground into dust for "health potions"...!
  3. I'm with LW, I find it acceptable with two seperate sections. People can have the right to smoke- I have no problem with that, as long as it doesn't interfere with my right to be healthy.
  4. That was my thought exact. Remember, he also writes of mass suicide at Jotapa- which he escaped from. Perhaps one mass suicide is believable but two goes too far.
  5. And I quote myself from that thread: "I saw it on the History channel and cried at how bad it was. It was a big love story with super human slaves flipping legionairs around in the air, lol, the Romans looked like pansies. It was a bad film..."
  6. Currently I own these books: Grant's Roman Emperors Goldworthy's In the Name of Rome Collins' Nero's Killing Machine Burns' Rome and the Barbarians Gibbon's Decline and Fall ---- Currently in "possession" of: Brand's Roman Military Law (Library Book) ---- My Saturnalia Wish List currently comprises of: Goldswirthy's Complete Roman Army M. Warrior's Roman Religion: A Sourcebook Rodger's The Roman World: People and Places I also believe I should should consider getting these (in the near future): Caesar's Commentaries Livy Polybius ect, et al contemporary ---- I spent time recently reading most of the book reviews, here and on amazon, focusing on the topics I'm particularily interested in. I am also going to start (after the current list is read) studying the earlier Republic. The Roman Military Law I am currently reading has me hooked on the pivotal, reletively obscure figures of the delightfully interesting politics of the early Roman Republic. I should research before I ask these questions, but does anyone have any suggestions on books about the early Roman Republic? Better yet, does anyone recommend a particular author?
  7. Moonlapse works at Area 51. I knew it! Or he's a spy. Or he works in insurance...
  8. Each lictor had an axe with their fasces. They represented the power (imperium) over life and death in the city that banned weapons. Consuls had twelve; the dictator had all twenty four- they were a bodygaurd and signified power and rank.
  9. Unfortunately, there is no cheap copy of the book. I'm really enjoying what I've read so far. This is probably the book that will get me really interested in the Republic.
  10. There were 3 of them . Sorry for my lack of clarification- All of them. All distinguished themselves valiantly.
  11. Thank you PP. This I follow this story and it will help my Masada project.
  12. Haha that's funny! It's even funnier knowing 90% of the people that read that won't know what it means!
  13. -But that's just it; after highschool you never say it again.
  14. Uhg, I was kinda mad. If you have $100 lying around, you can buy it, then at least I'll know it's in good hands. I can't believe this old, inch-thick book costs so much!
  15. No no no... they should have made the list too... Rosenrot was beautiful... Reise Reise too...
  16. Uhg, I told the librarian I was interested in purchasing this unfrequented book. The last time somebody checked it out was in 1972. She said no. :frusty:
  17. Uhg, what a horrible list. No Muse, no Pink Floyd, and what...? No Foo Fighters!?!? At least R.E.M. is on there...
