  1. The attempt and then the success in Austria, the marches into the Rhineland and the Sudetenland ("Peace in our time") emboldened Hitler. Short of declaring war on Germany, I don't think that the US could have altered affairs. Italy was of little or no consequence, save for holding off Operation Barbarossa for a few months. As far as Asia is concerned, the US had an aged fleet and a small and unprepared army. The US eventually cut off Japan's oil supply.
  2. N.N., first you have to win, then ask AoS to do it.
  3. Mefeels that that is a 'moot' point or it is a 'moot' point? I guess that that depends on how closed one's alleged mind is. And then Caesar fathered Brutus when he was a lad.
  4. If you drop out, I'll .. Cabesche?
  5. M.C., I am sure that they had to coal at British ports and had to go through the Straits of Gibraltar. Do you think that the 'family' would have allowed Cousin Nicky's toys to pile up? The Japanese were a threat to the Brits in East Asia.
  6. Yeah! So, does that mean that the US Post will bring me a crock of CASH and other goodies in about a month or so? Hah? :notworthy: I'll be on the que vivre.
  7. Quite. But, then to reduce it to fact is a different thing. This is not a gossip column. May I take this opportunity to point out that it is a fact that Caesar had carnal knowledge of one of Cato's female relatives? Come to think of it, 'a certain party' may be a descendant of CJC!
  8. D.F., see: http://www.unrv.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5955 Nothing in that is chiseled in stone. Present your ideas! I am certain that N. Carnalis would do an excellent job at setting Roman things up and finding inexpensive, decent places to stay. I am sure that N.C. knows more about NYC and its museums and eateries than most anyone. Dates very seldom matter to me. I'll help in conveying four people around in my chariot. Would just love to meet MPC .
  9. Not a word? Not a syllable? Not so much as a peep? And, above all, No Cash! Just you wait and see!
  10. Naturally, a toga with lots of purple on it. Don't forget the whisky.
  11. We have a Dell with Millennium and Adaptec. We no longer can 'format' a disc. Any help?
  12. It was the Black Sea Fleet. Why didn't the Russians attempt the Suez? What was the direct cause of the war? I don't think that the Japanese can be blamed for a 'sneak' attack.
  13. Yo yo yo! Jive turkey, you not down wit' mine? Don't dis the Pat gang! Moonbabie pumps up the jam, and we start kickin' it with Big P Daddy Primus. My homies Pert and Pan start chillin' with the three fly girls, until Cat-O put the smackdown on us. :afro: I have absolutely no idea of what you babble about . Will attempt to have it translated by some :smartass: . Yet, if Cat-o is who I think it is, here's to him , no matter what he goes on about . Told J.R. to . Now, Gaius will try to translate his . Unlike 'a certain party', Gaius was born a Glorious Noble Patrician, and need not be 'created' one . Not knowing the criteria which elevates one to this illustrious group, demurs.
  14. I think that it was forbidden for a Roman master to have intercourse with a slave. In the 'Code of Justinian', it is codified.
  15. Re Italy: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...GLD:en%26sa%3DN Re 'Spanish', is it written from right to left?
  16. The god-Consul and Pater Arcanae wishes all Romans a Happy New Year which will commence at 8:07PM EDST today.
  17. The Japanes got hold of British plans for battleships and the Russian ships and admirals weren't up to snuff.
  18. Somewhere I read that the Basques are from that area (Armenia?). Then there are the Albanians.
