  1. I have Windows ME. Would you please explain above a little more?
  2. I had that happen to me when I clicked on an alleged members web site at roman-empire.net. It was a *or* site with a Trojan and it took me forever to get rid of it. The webmaster there has been driven to the point of considering closing the site down. I no longer click on any one's web site unless I have come to know them. No posts - no click. Most of them are trying to sell something anyway. P.P., what's the difference between a 'Trojan' and a virus?
  3. This disappearance is an unmitigated tragedy! Virgil61's opus sent into the ether of cyberspace! I suspect a conspiracy by his detractors. Dr. Dalby, perhaps you might look up Dr. Cronoch's exposition of the subject matter.
  4. Some questions: 1. Aren't all 'revolts' illegal as regards the then existing government (including the present 'flower' revolts)? 2. "Free and fair" elections - in those days? 3. Was the 'republican' government corrupt or not? (This question must not be obfuscated with a comparison to the subsequent governments.) 4. Was the Senate capable of governing the then existing empire? These questions deserve a 'yes' or 'no' answer. A thought: If the Senate was capable of running the empire, then why did a Caesar (and a Pompey) come to the fore?
  5. I can't resist! Are you a Monsey maidel maven mensch originally from Boro Park? L' shanah tova! Shlomo :king:
  6. You don't know how sorely you tempt me. Take a look at where I'm located.

    Coming Out

Make it your business to make your parents proud of you.
  8. SUNY, Hamilton, Cornel, NYU, CUNY, Pratt, St. John's, St. Francis, B'klyn Poly, LIU, RPI, Fordham U., Brooklyn and Queens colleges, FIT, RIT, Post. That's just for starters. Then there is The School of Hard Knocks. Marist? They keep conducting political polls. (Just kidding.) Now, if you go to penciltucky, bring some swimming gear with you - Johnstown Flood. You might also bring some lead clothes with you - Three Mile Island. You won't have to worry about osama - why would anyone take the trouble?
  9. Oh, think nothing of it. Happens all the time in NYC. There is a name for this type of conflagration - but I can't go into it here. Might offend. Recently some chap had his warehouse set alight. Burned the whole block down. Managed to involve a few more. Burned for days. Little kiddies and pyromaniacs had a party.
  10. What's the status of the trombone? Anyone moon you on the way home?
  11. Considering the Low Countries, would 'tectonic' plates have something to do with this?
  12. Note that MPC is now a Consul and a member of the dreaded Patricii. Well deserved! Congrats! Undoubtedly, he will soon be a Tyrant!
  13. Surely, my goodde fellowe :notworthy:, you makke a jestte! >**<**<**>**>**< How do I know thatte this is not somme cunningge conspiracy enterred into by yourselffe :notworthy: and the likes of Ursus , Germanicus , and Viggen to enrolle me  in the rankkes of the newly departed?
  14. Excellent MPC. Your review should be used as a model for future book reviews and reviews in general.
  15. I wonder how well this will be done: http://www.historyinternational.com/greatempires/
  16. In my opinion, Italia Irridentia and Corsica along with Monaco and the Italian speaking regions of Switzerland should be included in the study. The more subjects that are studied the greater the validity of the work.
  17. Much the same has been said of the Straits of Gibraltar and the Dardanelles - ex the glacier. I wonder if the Netherlands sinking into the sea has any bearing on the British case? Denmark and Sweden in re the Baltic?
  18. This is a very elaborate screen in front of the alter. It is closed at the heart of the Mass, when the bread and wine are transformed (?) into the Body and Blood of Christ. It can be seen in modern Orthodox and Eastern Rite Roman Catholic churches. H. is asking about its length and width.
  19. Virgil61, upon re-reading your paper, I find that you are in agreement with Dr. E.L. Cronoch, Dean of the College of Forensic Medicine in the University of Ft. Hamilton. As you do, he questions the provenance of the Valle d' Aosta specimen (#48). He too, believes that the specimen is from Campania. Upon further investigation, I firmly believe that Pertinax will agree without reservation. Pertinax, as mentioned in another thread, is conducting an investigation into the origins of the Brigantines. I was fortunate enough to attend a symposium chaired by Dr. Cronoch at the Brooklyn Museum this past summer at which he presented his paper: "On The Origins of Modern Italians". Have you had the pleasure of reading this exposition? You may not be aware of this, but Pantagathus is presently investigating the origins of modern Greeks. He also has a mild interest in the origins of modern Italians. I am certain that he will also attest to the proper provenance of #48.
  20. I find the languages attributed to the specimens curious. I am afraid that they need further investigation. Only DNA tests could prove your hypotheses. This is an area in which I have much interest. It would be my pleasure to conduct these tests when you are of a mind to do so.
  21. The Roman Pope never claimed that the moslems were violent! Only Orthodox Churches?
