I never saw the old Torchwood series, so I wouldn't understand this series, even if it has been "Americanized." For the record, I have trouble getting into Dr. Who and its spin offs. I watched the David Tennant years because I liked him as an actor, but when he left it was all downhill. Even Amy Pond's legs can't redeem the series for me.

I pretty much feel the same way. And that's far from the only cliche to be found in the movie.

I have nothing against the UK people, and in fact usually admire them. But it's obvious their government and their police have become a joke. A responsible government would have declared martial law and sent in well armed police units from the get go. A bunch of punks armed with twitter are ruling the streets in the UK .... and that's a sad epilogue to a country that held out alone against the Luftwaffe and the Wehrmacht. My sympathies are with the people. I hope all UNRV members there are safe and still invested with their property.

Honestly I didn't care to analyze it as much as you guys. By the time I had come to the herpes/ Her Pies and "you need a comma" /"she's in a coma" threads, I was rolling in laughter along with Sonic. As far as the BBC's list of Bad Americanisms, I have looked at the list and simply shrugged at most of them. It's still English, even if it is not the Queen's English taught in Oxbridge. Rather, the American massacre of the English language occurs among Ebonics in urban culture, hick speak among poorly educated rural whites, or "Spanglish" among young Hispanic immigrants.

In any case, the technology gap between Romans and Barbarians doesn't seem to match the technology gap between Europeans (who had gunpowder) and Natives (who didn't).
