That is one crazy looking fellow!

 

Funny you mention the not so bright aspect. Down at my mother's farm, there is an agressive little blue bird who will attack his image (for hours on end) in my step father's truck side mirror every day.... Every day

 

Poop has become a common accessory...

 

It is quite hilarious to watch.

Wow. He looks like a parrot-owl or something. Quite odd looking. I can't say I've ever seen one of those.

 

We have our share of insane robins and cardinals as well. They usually die of head injuries or broken necks.

His crest is so big to give a snake a much larger target (with no substance) to keep any "incoming" away from the eyes.He weighs as much as a small dog, believe me your arm sags.

Yes , I kid you not, after the little fluffball small Owls and medium Harris Hawks (that can dig in to your arm a bit), this chap was a deadweight. The vultures couldnt fly (no thermals) Gonzo the smallest was ok , it was like having a chicken perched on your arm ; but the Lappet Vulture is a scarey proposition.

Not all, this fellow is an exception as are the Vultures- the latter being the most guileful and intelligent of all the birds, (but they need thermals to fly). To fly this particular bird the foremost requirement ,is a very strong arm!
