The Multangular Tower

This shot is a weld of two panned shots. The Tower was the corner of the defence system in Roman times, and built upon by later occupiers of the City.Note the definitive layer of Roman bricks -the red "tiles " running across the lower Tower.Above that layer we see constant accretions for each major period, terminating in the Medieval lancet ports.

Described by Salway as (in the context of the rebuilt riverside defences of Eborascvm) one of Constantine's greatest works -notwithstanding Trier and Byzantium .
